I don’t have New Year’s resolutions—I have new day’s resolutions. (1/10)
I might start off the day in a bad mood, but sometime during the morning, the thought of ‘it’s going to be a great day—I’m really very fortunate,’ pops in my mind. Today it was while I was taking a walk through a snow and ice-covered park. Slipping around on the ice, I felt like the grumpiest of grumpy old men until I realized that first, I have a warm place to stay and I chose to walk through the park, and second, a lot of people (I used to be one of them) are in an office, void of fresh air and sunlight, doing what they hate, while I have the opportunity to work from home. Regardless of the fact that my bank account isn’t as stuffed as it used to be, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to nurture a side of me that has long been neglected; to really take advantage of this period of exciting uncertainty. It also wouldn’t be possible without having amazing people in my life, who love and care about me—another thing to be grateful for.
So, my new day resolution is to make the most of the day and try to live a balanced life. Here are some of the ways I’m ‘balancing’.
I Replaced Drinking With Running, but the Results Weren’t What You’d Think “But I found that it isn’t enough to do something that’s perceived as a “healthy” activity… you also have to be performing that activity for healthy reasons.” (Greatist)
Comedian Gaby Dunn is the Unlikely Financial Guru of the Youtube Generation “You can’t be afraid to look dumb because in the end, it only hurts you. And open your mail, for God’s sake.” (i-D)
Eric Wong Imagines a New British Capital in ‘Cohesion’ “The narrative aims to re-unite an arguably broken Britain in the 21st century, providing for the disenfranchised generation within the UK and the increasing dislocated global communities.” (Hi-Fructose)
A Parisian Look “I hadn’t quite prepared for just how cold it was going to be (i.e. bare ankles), but it worked out as we used the excuse of being cold to pop into one too many shops for sweets, coffee or both.”(GalMeetsGlam)
Why Should Humans Care About Biodiversity Loss? “We humans don’t live in a bubble.” Simple, easy to understand video on why the loss of biodiversity is important—specifically to humans (since some people need to feel personally threatened to care).
